Undergraduate education is an education level taken prior to gaining a first degree (except for an associate's degree), hence in many subjects in many educational systems, undergraduate education is post-secondary education up to the level of a bachelor's degree, such as in the United States, where a university entry level is known as undergraduate, while students of higher degrees are known as graduates, while in some other educational systems and subjects, undergraduate education is post-secondary education up to the level of a master's degree, for example some science and engineering courses in Britain or some medicine courses in Europe.

What undergraduate major do I need to enter a graduate program in genetics?
Q. What undergraduate major do I need to enter a graduate program in genetics? Would the major need to be in genetics itself or can it just be in biology?
Asked by PhysicsNerd21 - Fri Jun 11 22:37:10 2010 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Most universities do not offer a B.S. in genetics, so most genetics graduate program applicants had majors in biology or chemistry. Basically, most genetics programs are looking for applicants to meet the pre-med requirements (two years of chemistry, one year each of biology, physics and calculus).

How important is Undergraduate research in getting into Dental school?
Q. I know it is very important to medical schools, but what about Dental schools? Or is shadowing and clinical experience more important? Is it possible to get into Dental school without undergraduate research?
Asked by FROGGBUSTER - Mon Jul 27 22:00:41 2009 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments

A. I did not do any undergrad research. IMO, it is more important to work at a dental office to get "real" experience. You'll also get to know dentists. I had several recommendations from dentists which i believe really helped me get in. Also, you'll find out if dentistry is really what you want to do. Good luck!

How does the application process for undergraduate study work in the USA? Is there a website which can help?
Q. I am hoping to begin my further education in America (for undergraduate study) and I understand that the process is different from the UCAS process in the UK. I know that you have to apply to each university seperately, but I don't really know much more than that. I am also wondering about what documents all of the universities in USA require, and what format they should be in. Is there a good website which can help foreign students apply to the US? I am not an international student as I have US Citizenship so I am not eligible for international scholarships either, but is there any way to help finance undergrad study in America? Any help which anyone could give me would be greatly appreciated! Thank you very much!

A. Each university is different, but in general all will require 1) an application 2) an application fee 3) copies of transcripts and 4) an essay (though not required by all). If you already have and idea of what schools you want to go to you should go to their website and look for a link to admissions. Most schools will have an online application and an application checklist so that you can make sure you get every step and don't miss deadlines. Many schools include a section in their application regarding if you would like to be considered for financial aid. You can also contact the university's financial aid office directly to get advice on what aid applications you should fill out and better information of scholarship application. For… [cont.]
